In a significant diplomatic push, India’s Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, concluded fruitful talks in Doha that aim to fortify India-Qatar relations in trade, energy security, and cultural domains.
The two-day visit, commencing April 9, saw Puri hold detailed deliberations with top Qatari officials, including Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, President and CEO of QatarEnergy. The agenda spanned critical aspects of bilateral ties, from investment prospects to interpersonal connections.
Discussions emphasized sustained high-level dialogues, mutual trade expansion, energy sector synergies, cultural initiatives, and community linkages—reflecting the depth and breadth of their alliance.
Both parties pledged to intensify efforts across these pillars, anticipating accelerated progress. Regional peace was a key theme, with optimism expressed for stability that would bolster their partnership.
Representing PM Narendra Modi, Puri delivered personal messages of goodwill to Qatar’s leadership, recalling their March 2026 phone call that prioritized diplomatic channels for calm in the region. He also appreciated Qatar’s assistance to Indian expatriates.
Al-Kaabi reaffirmed Qatar’s steadfast commitment as India’s trusted energy supplier, advocating for ongoing joint ventures. The duo hailed the recent 14-day ceasefire, urging protection of energy flows and maritime freedoms essential for global commerce.
Emphasis was placed on resilient supply chains amid geopolitical fluxes. As Puri wrapped up, expressions of thanks for warm reception underscored the visit’s success, with plans for continued engagement to harness shared opportunities.
This engagement not only reinforces economic interdependence but also positions both countries as pillars of stability in a volatile world.
