India’s Jaishankar Strengthens Mauritius Bonds in Key Meet

Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool welcomed India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday in Port Louis, where the latter delivered personal messages of goodwill from PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.

Jaishankar emphasized that the interaction reflects the profound amicable ties and mutual resolve to advance collaboration between the two countries. Posting on social media platform X, he noted the emphasis on enhancing cooperative synergies and friendly warmth.

He separately called on ex-PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, commending his steadfast support for India-Mauritius relations.

The previous day saw Jaishankar in discussions with current PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam, covering strides in development aid, healthcare, schooling, skill enhancement, travel facilitation, tech innovations, ocean security, and interpersonal connections. Relations were termed expansive and resilient, with notable progress across multiple domains in the last year.

Regional dynamics in West Asia were also on the agenda, exploring potential impacts.

Part of his April 9-10 itinerary includes attending the 9th Indian Ocean Conference. Next stop: UAE from April 11, aiming to fortify strategic ties.

Such engagements highlight India’s strategic focus on Indian Ocean diplomacy, promoting stability and prosperity.
