Taking to X, PM Tobgay expressed delight at receiving Manohar Lal and outlined their productive exchange on bolstering energy ties. He stressed the importance of these efforts in nurturing the timeless bond shared by the two neighboring countries.

Echoing this sentiment, the Indian minister posted about the meeting, praising the unparalleled nature of their partnership. Grounded in trust, harmony, and respect, it is enriched by a common spiritual legacy and affectionate grassroots relations. Manohar Lal highlighted PM Modi’s vision, assuring comprehensive support to Bhutan in every sphere.

Arriving for a four-day official visit, Manohar Lal was greeted at the airport by top Bhutanese and Indian officials, including Energy Minister Lyonpo Gem Tshering and Ambassador Sandeep Arya. A statement from India’s Power Ministry lauded the visit as a testament to joint pursuits in clean energy, enhanced electricity trading, and aiding Bhutan’s development goals.

Hydropower remains the cornerstone of this alliance, fueling sustainable power generation and economic synergies. Just days prior, senior Indian diplomat Munu Mahawar met Bhutan’s Foreign Minister to advance cooperation across multiple fronts, as shared by the Indian Embassy on social media.

This series of engagements reflects a strategic push to elevate India-Bhutan relations amid evolving regional dynamics. With shared Himalayan heritage and aligned developmental aspirations, the duo is poised to lead in renewable energy innovation and cultural preservation.
