In a candid interview, Israel’s envoy to India, Reuven Azar, disclosed the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the US-brokered ceasefire with Iran. The White House, for reasons of its own, positioned Pakistan as the go-between, shuttling a detailed 15-point peace proposal between Washington and Tehran.

‘Pakistan stayed out of direct combat, but their involvement hasn’t been constructive,’ Azar told IANS. He affirmed Israel’s faith in the US commitment to enforce the plan. This comes after Israeli forces dismantled key elements of Iran’s nuclear threat, marking a pivotal shift from warfare to negotiation.

Azar emphasized the strategic success: Iran’s path to nuclear arms has been derailed significantly. ‘We’ve set their program back years by targeting enrichment facilities and stockpiles,’ he claimed. Ongoing vigilance ensures no resurgence until threats are fully neutralized.

Looking ahead, the diplomat is optimistic about regional peace if Iran engages sincerely. ‘Full adherence to the 15 points benefits everyone, starting with Iran itself,’ he noted. Yet, he didn’t mince words on contingencies: any breach by Tehran would prompt decisive Israeli action to safeguard national security.

Compounding Iran’s external setbacks are internal cracks. Azar described disarray in the regime’s command chain, with security apparatus showing signs of fracture. This internal turmoil, he suggested, underscores the regime’s vulnerability amid mounting pressures.
