Pakistan’s northwest is reeling from torrential rains that triggered multiple fatalities and injuries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Peshawar, Mohmand, and Nowshera districts reported three deaths and 14 wounded on Thursday, as per local reports, amid record-breaking precipitation.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi detailed the chaos: In Peshawar’s Mattani, a roof collapse claimed a child’s life and hurt two. Flooded streets in Mian Gujar and Islamabad Koruna stranded many, requiring swift rescues.

In Nowshera, a single family’s ordeal in Rehimbad saw three injured—a woman and two kids—rushed to Pabbi Hospital after their roof caved in.

Mohmand saw the highest toll: A girl died in Shahid Banda when her room collapsed; five were hurt in Ekka Ghund’s Karari. A man lost his life in Baizai’s Sara Khawa to a similar mishap. Four more were injured in Pindiali Tehsil’s Dawazai Dawat Kor from falling debris.

This deluge marks Mohmand’s wettest year, exceeding previous highs and flooding nullahs, submerging lowlands. Scores fled homes as walls and structures failed; roads vanished, complicating aid delivery.

The rains didn’t spare agriculture or livestock, wiping out fields and herds, deepening financial woes. PDMA data reveals a grim toll since March: 45 dead (23 kids), 105 hurt, 442 homes damaged.

Communities now focus on rebuilding, but meteorologists warn of more rain, heightening fears of additional tragedies in this vulnerable region.
