Security and defense collaboration took center stage, with a thorough assessment of joint mechanisms like consultation channels, personnel training swaps, capability enhancement programs, and institutional partnerships. Strategies to deepen these ties were brainstormed extensively.
Posting on X, the Indian High Commission quoted both sides reiterating the importance of fortifying bilateral bonds, invoking the enduring legacy of mutual sacrifices in the 1971 war that birthed Bangladesh. Defense emerged as a key pillar, with focus on tackling shared threats.
They pledged joint action for regional peace and stability. Verma reiterated New Delhi’s dedication to expanding cooperation across domains on reciprocal benefits.
Concurrently, EAM S. Jaishankar met FM Khalilur Rahman in Delhi, discussing ways to invigorate ties and sharing perspectives on international affairs. Jaishankar’s X post expressed delight at the productive exchange and commitment to sustained dialogue.
Rahman’s ‘goodwill trip’ is positioned by Bangladesh as a bedrock for future gains in productivity and development. Notably, it’s the inaugural ministerial visit post-BNP’s February ascent to power.
