Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for a greener future as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu orders a deep dive into reducing electric bus operational expenses, which stand at about 72 rupees per km. Speaking at a roads and highways review in Amaravati, he tasked officials with evaluating multiple models to achieve this goal.

Expansion of charging networks and battery standardization emerged as priority interventions. Naidu envisioned a gradual shift to AC electric buses across all fleets, blending luxury with eco-friendliness. Public awareness drives for e-cycles were also recommended to diversify transport options.

‘Clean fuels cut costs and benefit citizens,’ Naidu remarked, pointing to solar energy efficiencies that trimmed power costs by 1 rupee per unit. He demanded heightened focus on fuel optimization for superior, low-cost services.

On infrastructure, the CM mandated faster highway builds to link ports effectively and spur economic growth. Road maintenance cannot be neglected—strong, ongoing efforts are essential for the state’s 45,433 km network, with 10,238 km needing yearly attention. Potholes must be fixed promptly to ensure smooth travel.

Naidu’s directives paint a picture of integrated development: affordable electric mobility intertwined with robust roadways, promising enhanced connectivity and prosperity for Andhra Pradesh residents.
