Jharkhand: Storm at CRPF Babu Dera Camp Claims Jawan’s Life

While the CRPF’s CoBRA battalion was engaged in high-stakes anti-Naxal operations in the Saranda forest, a severe weather event on Tuesday night led to the martyrdom of Constable Rakesh Kumar. The incident took place at the Babu Dera operational base when a giant tree crashed down due to intense wind speeds and heavy rainfall. Rakesh Kumar was seriously injured in the mishap and was later moved to a premier hospital in Ranchi via helicopter for advanced care. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries, marking a somber moment for the battalion. This loss comes at a time when the security forces are already facing heightened risks; just 48 hours prior to this accident, another CoBRA jawan, Anuj Kumar, was injured in an IED blast in the same forest range. The dual incidents highlight the immense dangers—both from insurgents and the unpredictable jungle environment—that security personnel face daily. Rakesh Kumar, a native of Aurangabad, Bihar, is remembered by his colleagues as a brave and committed soldier who served his country with distinction.
