Accompanied by Humayun Kabir, the advisor to PM Tarique Rahman, the talks addressed critical areas like visa easing, energy partnerships, and extradition protocols.
India pledged proactive collaboration with Bangladesh’s fresh administration, with Jaishankar stressing the exploration of novel cooperative pathways. Both sides committed to advancing proposals through established bilateral forums, alongside deliberations on broader regional and international concerns.
Post-meeting signals suggest sustained high-level engagements ahead, fostering expanded cooperation. Rahman outlined the BNP government’s foreign policy under ‘Bangladesh First’, prioritizing trust and common goals.
A key highlight was the promise to simplify Indian visa procedures for Bangladeshi medical and business travelers within weeks, enhancing cross-border exchanges. On energy, Rahman thanked Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for diesel aid and sought increases in diesel and fertilizer supplies, receiving positive assurances.
Extended meetings with NSA Ajit Doval and Puri covered security and strategic dimensions in depth. Puri’s X post detailed the fruitful energy discussions, reflecting optimism for deeper integration.
