The devastating impact of gambling addiction was on display in Ranchi as a son took his father’s life over a monetary disagreement. The accused, Kamal Sahu, was known to have a gambling habit which frequently caused friction within the family. Tensions peaked when Kamal demanded money belonging to his sister, which was being held by his father, Govind Sahu. When the father refused, Kamal allegedly attacked him with a spade. The Airport Police acted swiftly to arrest the suspect before he could escape. Local residents expressed shock at the brutality of the crime, which has left the neighborhood in mourning.
