In a proactive move, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reviewed wheat procurement readiness through virtual discussions with farmer representatives and voluntary groups on Wednesday. The process, set to launch province-wide from April 9, promises fair pricing and hassle-free operations for growers.

Targeted rollout sees Indore, Ujjain, and Bhopal mandals starting immediately, while others join two weeks later. A network of control rooms—from districts to the CMO—will track every step, ensuring accountability and speed.

Yadav highlighted the focus on registered smallholders, with pre-booked slots streamlining arrivals. ‘We’ve stocked enough bags and instructed officials for top-notch arrangements,’ he noted, urging NGOs to assist at mandis.

At Rs 2,625 per quintal plus Rs 40 bonus, the MSP rate incentivizes production. With 78.19 lakh registrations across thousands of centers, the scale is massive. Ministers and legislators will monitor locally, preventing bottlenecks.

This initiative underscores the BJP-led government’s farmer-first agenda, especially post-harvest. As procurement unfolds, it could stabilize markets and support national grain reserves, marking a vital phase in MP’s agrarian calendar.
