Jharkhand reels from two baffling fatalities reported on Wednesday in Ranchi and Koderma. The first incident unfolded in Ranchi’s Ratu area, specifically Chatakpur village, where a youth’s corpse was spotted inside a sealed residence early in the day, sparking widespread alarm among residents.
Police arrived swiftly under SHO Adikant Mahato’s lead. The site’s proximity to a high-voltage 11kV line suggests electrocution as the likely cause, though murder angles remain under scrutiny. The unidentified man’s remains were taken for forensic examination, with kin being contacted for confirmation.
Shifting to Koderma, heartbreak struck Navadih village when missing farmer Kishore Yadav, 55, was located suspended from a forest tree. Missing since April 5 while tending livestock, his disappearance prompted a police complaint the next day. Wood-gatherers found him Wednesday, alerting Dhab SHO Bambam Sah.
The body went straight to post-mortem at the district hospital. Relatives disclosed Yadav’s ongoing mental health struggles, leaning investigators toward suicide. As probes deepen, these tragedies highlight rural vulnerabilities—from electrical hazards to psychological distress—urging better safety measures and support systems across the state.
