At the Punjab Cricket Association’s (PCA) New Chandigarh Stadium in Mullanpur, Gurmmeet Singh Meet Hayer, the freshly appointed honorary secretary, hosted a key introductory session on April 7. District cricket secretaries and reps from across Punjab attended in full force.

Hayer kicked off by acknowledging the vital role of grassroots workers in cricket’s expansion. His core message: selections must be fair, open, and merit-driven. He lambasted any form of injustice to budding players, insisting that true talent will shine only with equal opportunities.

He delved into progress reports on district-level cricket initiatives and called for teamwork to bolster infrastructure. Feedback from districts is welcome, he said, and will shape organized development.

A major red flag was raised on age-related cheating. Hayer stated these scams erode trust in youth cricket and sideline genuine prospects. District bodies must enforce strict checks, he mandated.

Participants left the meeting energized, pledging joint efforts for enhanced training grounds and pathways for Punjab’s young cricketers.
