The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold a press conference at 3 PM on August 17, 2025, at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. This press conference, confirmed by the DG Media ECI, will be the first held by the commission following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter list. The SIR process, initiated four months prior to the Bihar assembly elections, has garnered attention, with questions surrounding the decision now being discussed in the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The objective of the SIR campaign is to ensure the inclusion of all eligible citizens in the voter list while excluding ineligible individuals. The final voter list is scheduled to be published on September 30, after the resolution of all claims and objections. The ECI initiated the first phase of counting votes on July 1.
