The Electron Beam Center will soon be set up at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. Departmental meeting and preparation has started regarding this. According to information received from the management of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, a departmental discussion has been held last week to explore the possibilities of using electron beam in crop improvement program and food technology in the university. The Vice Chancellor Doctor addressed the meeting. Presided over by SK Patil.
Scientists from Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai were also involved online. Crop improvement, food technology, medicinal crops were discussed by Dr. Archana Sharma, Scientist and Associate Director of Beam Technical Development Group, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai.
He has described the electron beam technology as useful for crop improvement and quality of food products. It was proposed to set up an electron beam facilitation center in Public Private Partnership mode at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University Raipur.
Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University, SK Patil has assured to send the proposal to the Government of Chhattisgarh, describing the electron beam technology as a boon for the farmers of Chhattisgarh. He said that with the establishment of this facility, investment from the private sector can also be invited.
