Zelensky says Russia's energy strikes aim to cripple civilian life

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told followers on X that Russia has intentionally violated the energy sector cease‑fire, carrying out 76 attacks on power, oil and gas sites since the announcement. The latest assaults on Saturday night damaged substations in four western regions, leaving two dead and twelve injured, two of them children. Repair crews are on 24‑hour shifts trying to bring electricity back to affected neighborhoods. Zelensky added that Russian missiles and drones have also hit residential blocks and an agricultural facility in Volyn on Sunday. In total, Moscow has used around 2,700 drones, 1,700 aerial bombs and 66 missiles in the past week, most of them ballistic, with the clear objective of shutting down Ukraine's electricity supply.
