Zelensky Urges Global Action as Russia Targets Ukrainian Civilians

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, posted on X on July 13 that Russian forces have once again struck civilian locations, including public transport buses in Odesa, housing complexes in Zaporizhzhia and a hospital in Kharkiv. He condemned the attacks as assaults on ordinary people's lives and called them evidence that supporting Ukraine is essential from humanitarian, political and security perspectives. Zelensky appealed for stronger international pressure on Moscow, suggesting that fresh sanctions, new aid packages and the continuation of Europe’s FREYA anti‑ballistic missile project are required to make an impact. He thanked every country and individual assisting Ukraine and indicated that further diplomatic meetings would be scheduled to reinforce the nation’s defence posture. This condemnation arrived after Ukraine reported a large‑scale drone raid on the Sezeran oil refinery, one of Rosneft’s primary plants, responsible for processing about three percent of Russia’s crude oil.
