Zelensky says Ukraine ready to purchase needed air defence

President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated on social media that Ukraine is prepared to buy any air‑defence hardware it requires, including Patriot missiles. He told his followers that the country will not accept weapons as a gratuitous gift, but will fund the acquisition itself.

He called on the United States to make a prompt decision, insisting that the first step must be taken on American soil. "I thank every nation that helps protect Ukrainian lives," the president said, adding that a rapid resolution is essential before the upcoming winter months.

Zelensky also mentioned that enhancing both air‑defence and ballistic missile interception capabilities is among Kyiv’s highest priorities. He urged the defence ministry and security agencies to work in full synchronization and to audit every existing treaty with partner states to confirm what has been implemented and what remains pending.

The appeal arrived amid ongoing Russian aggression that has destroyed multiple residential towers, a children’s hospital, and a school in Kyiv, while also inflicting heavy damage in Odesa and Chernihiv.
