Zelensky Promises No Airstrikes on Russian Cities During Negotiations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the Kremlin’s ceasefire announcement by stating that Kyiv will not launch air attacks on Russian cities that are part of the negotiation framework. Posting on the social media platform X, Zelensky said the Ukrainian armed forces would hold fire from the moment of the declaration until the end of Saturday, as well as on the following Sunday and Monday.

He added that the decision reflects Ukraine’s hope that Russia will mirror the restraint on its side, especially concerning any actions aimed at the capital, Kyiv. Zelensky emphasized that the pause is intended to create a conducive environment for diplomatic talks and to avoid further civilian casualties.

The president also indicated that the U.S. envoys, after leaving Moscow, will travel to Kyiv to discuss the ceasefire details directly with Ukrainian officials, reinforcing the collaborative effort between Washington and Kyiv to manage the temporary truce.
