Zambia’s President Hichilema Receives Congratulations from Chinese Head of State

Beijing, 21 August – In a message dated 20 August, Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Hakainde Hichilema on securing a second term as Zambia’s president. Xi reflected on the two rounds of high‑level talks that have taken place recently, underscoring how they have jointly guided the progress of bilateral ties.

The Chinese president highlighted that political trust between China and Zambia is continuously deepening, and that practical cooperation has delivered substantial gains in areas such as infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and public health. On the multilateral front, both nations have worked in close coordination, sharing common positions on global governance.

Xi expressed a strong desire to further strengthen the bilateral relationship, working side by side with President Hichilema to put into action the achievements of the China‑Africa Cooperation Forum and the recent Beijing Summit. He urged both parties to nurture the historic friendship, stand firmly behind each other, and raise the level of mutually beneficial cooperation, propelling the comprehensive strategic partnership to a new stage for the welfare of their citizens.
