Young Vietnamese Officers Exchange Ideas With Indian Army

New Delhi, October 25

A group of 10 young officers from the Vietnam People's Army spent several days in India under an officer exchange programme that brought together young military leaders from both countries.

The Indian Army disclosed the details in a statement on Sunday. The visiting officers travelled to three cities, Pune, Ahilyanagar and Deolali, where they toured defence installations and visited notable cultural landmarks.

The purpose of the programme was to encourage professional conversation between the two countries' military officers, help them understand one another's methods and reinforce trust. Vietnamese officers studied the Indian Army's training and education frameworks, and officers from both sides shared their experiences.

Analysts note that such exchanges can deepen professional understanding among armed forces and generate fresh opportunities for cooperation in the years ahead.

The initiative carries the traditionally friendly relationship between the two militaries into the next generation of leaders. It also highlights a shared determination to expand defence collaboration and goodwill.

In Pune, the delegation visited the academy at Khadakwasla to learn how its training system works. There, cadets of the Army, Navy and Air Force are trained together, and women cadets are part of the batch.

The officers were introduced to the NDA's training approach, under which future officers from the three services are prepared in a shared environment. The aim is to build coordination, cooperation and the ability to work together across services.

During the stay, the Vietnamese officers also interacted with academy instructors and staff members.

The visit is viewed as an important move in deepening the defence partnership between India and Vietnam.
