Yoga session highlights cultural ties during Modi’s Uzbekistan visit

A unique cultural highlight of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Uzbekistan was a public yoga demonstration held in Tashkent. Over 52 Uzbek yoga enthusiasts, including six members of the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan who previously represented the country at the World Yoga Asana Championship in Ahmedabad, took part in the session.

Modi shared short video clips on his social platform, praising the participants and thanking President Mirziyoyev for promoting yoga in Uzbekistan. He wrote, “Uzbekistan loves yoga!” and congratulated the performers, noting the presence of people of all ages.

The event underscored the growing popularity of yoga in Central Asia and added a cultural dimension to the diplomatic agenda, showcasing how soft power initiatives complement formal strategic discussions.
