Coast Guard Vessel Xueshan Leads Enforcement Sweep in Eastern Taiwan Sea

Beijing, 4 July – The China Coast Guard’s Xueshan class ship carried out a law‑enforcement sweep east of Taiwan Island on Thursday. The move follows a June‑long series of patrols that combined routine surveillance, verification of foreign vessels, fisheries conservation, and emergency rescue tasks.

Officials highlighted that the patrol seeks to ensure free and safe navigation, defend the lawful interests of Chinese fishers and Taiwanese counterparts, and protect human life and property at sea. The Coast Guard reaffirmed its commitment to maintain a robust presence in the waters it administers, reinforcing China’s claim to sovereignty and its broader maritime rights.
