World faces worsening heatwaves, UN warns, demands immediate steps

The United Nations highlighted a grim outlook for the coming months as the El Niño pattern strengthens. The UN chief warned that Central America, the Caribbean, South‑America, South Asia, the southwestern Pacific, Europe and Africa are all projected to endure hotter and drier conditions. He described the climate crisis as "far beyond the tipping point" and urged governments to create comprehensive heat‑health strategies, adjust work hours, and integrate climate‑resilient design into schools, hospitals and public infrastructure.
