White House Confirms Immediate Energy Truce in Ongoing Conflict

The White House officially confirmed President Trump's announcement of an "energy cease‑fire" between Russia and Ukraine. In a repost of the president’s Truth Social message, the administration stated that the pause on energy‑related attacks is now in force.

Trump’s post outlined that both sides have pledged not to strike each other's energy infrastructure and thanked readers for paying attention to the issue. The statement follows Zelensky's earlier comment that Ukraine would cease attacks on Russian oil refineries if Moscow stopped targeting Ukrainian power plants. A day earlier, Trump had accused Ukrainian forces of causing a spike in U.S. diesel prices by striking Russian refineries and urged Zelensky to halt those operations. He also hinted that a leadership change in Kyiv might be required for a resolution.

During a press briefing, Trump said Moscow appears prepared to negotiate while Kyiv’s intentions remain ambiguous. He added that President Vladimir Putin wants to bring the war, which began in February 2022, to an end. The comments were made after a telephone conversation with Putin and amid growing disagreement between Washington and Kyiv over loosening sanctions on Russian diesel exports.
