As West Asia witnesses dramatic shifts, India has sharpened its focus on the region, ramping up contacts with key Gulf partners. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided insights during Thursday’s briefing on West Asian developments, highlighting New Delhi’s vigilant stance.

‘India is tracking the fast-changing dynamics closely and remains in constant touch with countries in the region,’ Jaiswal stated. This diplomatic outreach includes a high-profile visit by EAM S. Jaishankar to UAE on April 11-12, 2026, where discussions will center on deepening the strategic partnership.

The India-UAE relationship, marked by robust economic and energy exchanges, is increasingly vital for regional peace efforts. Parallelly, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri’s ongoing visit to Qatar (April 9-10, 2026) seeks to fortify energy cooperation amid global volatility.

Addressing supply chain concerns, pharma official Satyaprakash T.L. noted that while West Asian tensions disrupted some international pharma input chains, domestic medicine prices have held steady. Strategic moves like zeroing custom duties on 40 petrochemicals, coupled with strict monitoring of fuel supplies like LPG and HSD, are ensuring seamless drug production.

India’s multifaceted approach—diplomatic, economic, and regulatory—positions it resiliently against regional turbulence, prioritizing citizen welfare and national security.
