Washington Reacts: Murphy Stresses Diplomatic Route Over Yemen War

Senator Chris Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, used his appearance on “Face The Nation" to argue that the United States must stay out of Yemen’s war. He said his recent trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which included time at the Riyadh airport, confirmed that diplomatic channels are still open. Murphy warned that the conflict, now claiming 12 lives, risks expanding if America joins the fight. He suggested the safest way to protect U.S. forces stationed in the region is to end the war through talks and to ask Gulf partners to resume protecting commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
