Beijing witnessed high-level diplomacy as Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a Politburo member of the CPC Central Committee, met with Rashid Meredov, Turkmenistan’s Deputy PM and Foreign Minister, on March 18. The encounter took place during Berdimuhamedov’s ongoing visit to China as National Leader and People’s Council Chairman.
Wang Yi praised the robust personal rapport between Berdimuhamedov and China, noting how this leadership-level camaraderie steers the enduring growth of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. ‘This trust is the bedrock of our stable relations,’ he stated.
The Chinese FM viewed the trip as pivotal for 2024, anticipating strategic exchanges between leaders to bolster ties and address international issues collaboratively. Multiple key agreements are expected to emerge from these interactions.
Meredov, in response, lauded China’s landmark legislative gatherings – the NPC and CPPCC – and thanked hosts for their hospitality toward his leader. Turkmenistan pledged backing for Xi’s global proposals and joint efforts toward the upcoming China-Central Asia Summit. Strengthening multilateral collaboration for regional harmony and progress was another focal point, signaling deeper integration in Eurasian affairs.
