Violence hotspots emerge in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka ahead of 2026 polls

Local authorities logged 62 violent episodes before the election, concentrating mainly in Chattogram (11 cases), Cox’s Bazar (8), Dhaka and Mymensingh (five each) and Sirajganj (four). Of the 34 incidents recorded before the vote, 28 received no official response, raising concerns about accountability.

On voting day, 32 separate events were documented in 19 constituencies. Mymensingh faced seven incidents, Bhola six, while Chattogram reported four. Cox’s Bazar and Feni each saw three. The majority of these attacks—17 in total—were attributed to BNP and its affiliates.
