WASHINGTON, April 12 – India’s top diplomat in the US, Vinay Kwatra, told attendees at a Texas conference that the country’s goal of achieving developed nation status by 2047 hinges on thoughtful policy debates and intellectual exchanges. His virtual keynote at the inaugural Austin India Conference, organized by UT Austin’s McCombs School of Business, set the tone for discussions on India’s long-term growth trajectory.
Applauding the event’s visionary approach, Kwatra said platforms like this are essential for debating the roadmap to ‘Viksit Bharat.’ He explained that key decisions shaping India’s development stem from in-depth policy talks, which will underpin the nation’s progress over the coming decades.
Kwatra envisioned shared gains from India’s innovation drive for both nations, noting the intensifying strategic and economic alignment between India and America. The gathering united various stakeholders to scrutinize shifts in India’s policy environment and priorities.
Shifting focus, D.C. Manjunath, Consul General in Houston, during the ‘Growth Triangle’ panel, outlined how India-US bonds are fortifying on multiple fronts: official channels, commercial ties, and grassroots connections. These elements, he asserted, propel the partnership’s steady ascent, enhancing cooperation in diverse fields.
Pointing to sub-national collaborations, Manjunath described India-Texas links as pivotal to the larger bilateral framework. Regional engagements, he observed, play a crucial role in advancing economic integration, technological breakthroughs, and joint initiatives.
Manjunath thanked UT Austin’s team and reiterated the consulate’s dedication to broader academic collaborations in Texas. He emphasized that such alliances will promote exchanges, fuel creativity, and propel mutual advancement toward common goals.
