Rescue effort continues as 29,567 workers search for survivors in Venezuela

The search-and-rescue mission in Venezuela remains one of the largest of its kind in recent history. As of today, 29,567 rescuers are deployed across the quake-hit zones, comprising firefighters, medical staff, security personnel, and 3,281 volunteers from abroad.

Their objective is to locate survivors among the 6,462 people already rescued and to provide immediate assistance to the 16,740 injured. The ongoing aftershocks, numbering 995 since the main earthquakes, complicate operations, but emergency shelters have been set up in 80 temporary camps to accommodate the 17,345 homeless.
