In a blend of tradition and modernity, US Ambassador Sergio Gor’s Bengaluru visit kicked off with a warm reception by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya. The two leaders bonded over authentic South Indian fare—masala dosa and filter coffee—in Indiranagar, diving deep into strategic dialogues on trade and tech partnerships.
Surya’s X post captured the essence: discussions post-interim trade deal focused on amplifying US-India synergies in commerce, technology, and innovation. He poetically described Bengaluru as a bridge ‘from masala dosa to machine learning,’ symbolizing the fusion of cultural heritage and technological prowess.
The city’s economic clout is undeniable—home to more than 700 US firms, it drives 43% of India’s software exports and shelters 40% of the nation’s Global Capability Centers. This positions Bengaluru as the epicenter of innovation-led ties between the two nations.
Adding a local flavor, they traveled by auto-rickshaw, with Surya filming a jovial video: ‘Welcome to Bengaluru, India’s finest city, Ambassador! Thank you for your work for India and America.’ Gor beamed, ‘I’ve got the best host showing me Bengaluru for the first time.’
Gor himself posted on X about arriving in the city, marveling at its startup buzz and street food vibrancy, expressing gratitude to his host. Surya ensured the ambassador experienced ‘Namma Auto,’ immersing him in Bengaluru’s everyday commute culture.
The itinerary extended to developmental reviews, where Surya met GAIL seniors to assess city gas projects in key areas like Jayanagar and Basavanagudi. This multifaceted visit reinforces Bengaluru’s role as a catalyst for stronger bilateral economic and innovative exchanges, promising exciting advancements ahead.
