US envoy defends stance as Pakistan files formal objection over Kashmir claim

Sergio Gor, the US ambassador to India, expressed enthusiasm about his inaugural trip to the valley, praising its natural beauty and confirming that the United States would review its travel guidance. Pakistan reacted by filing an official diplomatic protest, describing Gor’s remarks as "factually wrong" and inconsistent with America's own stated commitment to the UN Charter. The Pakistani statement called for a resolution of the Kashmir issue through the UN Security Council and emphasized the need to respect the wishes of the Kashmiri populace. It also welcomed US offers to facilitate dialogue between the two nuclear neighbours.
