US Accuses Pakistan Intelligence of Enabling Lashkar‑e‑Taiba and Jaish‑e‑Mohammad Attacks on US Forces

Kabul, 15 October – Washington has formally charged Pakistan with granting operational space to the Haqqani network, Lashkar‑e‑Taiba (LeT) and Jaish‑e‑Mohammad (JeM) to strike U.S. personnel inside Afghanistan. Former Joint Chiefs chairman Admiral Mike Mullen warned that the Haqqani network essentially operates as an offshoot of Pakistan’s Inter‑Services Intelligence (ISI).

The claim aligns with recent findings that Pakistani security agencies train and facilitate militants crossing into Afghanistan. Taliban sources said they eliminated 41 insurgents and apprehended 62 in Nuristan, identifying them as members of IS‑IS linked groups receiving Pakistani support.

Afghanistan’s defence ministry corroborated the allegation, stating that the infiltrators benefitted from "direct guidance and cooperation" by the Pakistani army.

India has repeatedly highlighted Pakistan’s role in fostering cross‑border terrorism, especially in Jammu‑Kashmir, and has shown evidence of state‑level involvement. In response to a 2023 attack in Pahalgam, New Delhi carried out airstrikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir.

Iran similarly accused Islamabad of sheltering anti‑Iranian militants and pointed to the ISI’s involvement in nurturing these networks.

European security agencies have identified links between terrorist incidents on the continent and organisations operating from Pakistan, describing a "strong" relationship between the ISI and LeT.

The cumulative evidence paints a picture of a Pakistani‑backed terror ecosystem that serves as a strategic instrument against regional neighbours while also exposing Pakistan to international condemnation.
