The United Nations has raised alarm over the rapid expansion of the Ebola virus from its stronghold in Ituri to other provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Tom Fletcher emphasized that humanitarian actors must guarantee uninterrupted access for health workers, essential equipment, and relief supplies, and that border crossings and supply routes stay open. He also called on donors to ensure promised funding reaches response teams quickly. The DRC Ministry of Communication reported 1,792 infections, 625 fatalities, and 295 recoveries, with 764 patients still under treatment, highlighting the critical need for a coordinated international effort.
