Ukrainian president condemns Russian strikes as a response to diesel export relief
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the latest Russian airstrike on Zaporizhzhia as a direct retaliation to the United States' decision to loosen diesel export controls on Moscow. He emphasized that allowing Russia to profit from oil sales undermines diplomatic efforts toward a ceasefire.
The glide‑bomb attack targeted densely populated neighborhoods, resulting in twelve fatalities, among them three children, and fourteen injuries. Rescue crews continue to work amid the rubble, with two victims listed as critically injured.
Zelenskyy urged the international community to recognize that sanctions relief can embolden further attacks on Ukrainian cities and called for a unified response to halt the violence.
