UKPNP Calls for UN Investigation into Extrajudicial Killings and Detentions in POK

In a statement released on August 18, the United Kashmir Peoples National Party (UKPNP) urged the United Nations to send a human‑rights monitoring mission to Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir. The party alleges that the Pakistani army has engaged in extrajudicial executions, kidnappings, and illegal detentions of peaceful protesters and human‑rights defenders.

UKPNP cites Joint Action Committee (JAC) data indicating that more than a dozen civilians have been killed since June 5, while hundreds have been detained without charge. The party stresses that any individuals implicated in these crimes must face fair and transparent legal proceedings.

The appeal emphasizes Pakistan’s obligations as a UN member state to uphold international conventions protecting freedom of expression, assembly and the right to a fair trial.
