UAE Stands with Saudi Arabia After Houthi Assault on Najran Region

Friday saw the United Arab Emirates issue a stern rebuke of the Houthi assault on Saudi Arabia's Najran province. The UAE foreign ministry called the attack a clear violation of Saudi sovereignty and a serious danger to the kingdom's security framework. In its declaration, the ministry affirmed that the Emirates remains fully aligned with Saudi Arabia, endorsing every initiative Riyadh undertakes to preserve national stability and protect its maritime routes.

Houthi spokesperson Yahya Sari took to the social network X to hint that the Yemeni armed forces would soon publish a statement detailing a "special military campaign" against Saudi targets. The group had earlier asserted that it had hit a Saudi tanker named "Daisy" with a ballistic missile, forcing the ship to retreat. Sari framed the strike as a countermeasure to Saudi-imposed naval blockades, describing it as a "blockade of a blockade" policy.

These events unfold against a backdrop of rapidly escalating friction between the Houthi movement and Saudi Arabia. After the Houthis announced a maritime embargo on Saudi‑linked vessels in the Red Sea on July 20, they have claimed a series of missile and drone attacks on Saudi tankers and energy installations. In response, the Saudi‑led coalition has intensified aerial operations against Houthi positions across Yemen, heightening the risk of broader regional conflict.
