ETGE accuses Turkey of colluding with China against East Turkestan

The East Turkistan Government in Exile released a scathing critique on July 18, alleging that Turkey’s recent diplomatic outreach to China amounts to collusion that harms the East Turkistan cause.

The criticism was triggered by a July 16 political meeting in Beijing between Vice‑Foreign Minister Miao Deyu of China and Vice‑Foreign Minister Beris Akinci of Turkey. The Chinese foreign ministry reported that the two sides discussed expanding law‑enforcement and security cooperation. Ankara also reiterated its endorsement of the One‑China policy, stating it would not permit its land to be used against Chinese sovereignty.

ETGE described the bilateral talks as a new chapter of betrayal toward Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz and other Turkic groups who have faced long‑standing neglect. The exile administration called Xinjiang a "occupied region" where Beijing imposes draconian policies.

Labeling the engagement "not diplomacy but a conspiracy," the ETGE argued that Turkey, for roughly three decades, has worked hand‑in‑hand with China to surveil, weaken, and pressure the East Turkistan independence movement and its supporters abroad.

Foreign minister Salih Hudayar noted that previous requests to Ankara to champion the East Turkistan people were ignored, while Turkey continues to deepen its cooperation with Beijing. The ETGE urged the international community to denounce Turkey’s alleged role, to act decisively against human‑rights violations in Xinjiang, and to support the right of self‑determination for East Turkistan.
