Trump links Iran campaign success to Hamas weapons deal with Israel
During the same Camp David briefing, Trump tied the progress of the Iranian pressure campaign to recent breakthroughs in the Israel‑Hamas talks.
He explained that Israel is pleased with a proposal that would see Hamas return weapons, a development he described as “unthinkable a few months ago.”
“The success we are seeing with Hamas shows how far we have come on Iran. Just a few months earlier such a deal seemed impossible,” Trump said.
The president suggested that similar diplomatic leverage could eventually be applied to Tehran, provided the Iranian regime curtails its missile activities and ceases support for regional proxies.
He warned that while Iran may appear stronger now, continued pressure will eventually diminish its influence.
