Trump Labels Socialist Policies as Path to Communism
During a lengthy question‑and‑answer session on June 30, former President Donald Trump characterized socialism as a gateway to communism for the United States. The comment followed a line of questioning about New York mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani, who recently suggested he would serve as a “poster child” for socialist candidates.
Trump dismissed the label of “social democracy” as cosmetic, insisting that it masks an underlying push toward full‑blown communism. “They use the term because it sounds pleasant, but the reality is a march toward communism,” he said.
He positioned the issue as the most severe challenge since America’s founding, drawing parallels to historic crises like the two World Wars, the September 11 attacks, and the Pearl Harbor bombing.
Although Trump recognized that critics might view his remarks as exaggerated, he maintained that “wise people will understand the warning.” He warned that nothing could be more perilous than a communist infiltration of American governance.
