Former United States President Donald Trump commented on Friday, expressing his concerns regarding the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting held in Tianjin, China, and its implications for global alliances. His remarks focused on the perceived shift in relationships, particularly the growing cooperation between India, Russia, and China.
Trump shared a photograph featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping together. He wrote, “Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest, China. May they have a long and prosperous future together!” This statement suggests Washington’s unease about the recent interactions between these world leaders.
Trump’s statement also hints at a worry regarding the expanding influence of China, whom he describes as “deepest” and “darkest.” Earlier, on September 2, Trump voiced his dissatisfaction with the evolving dynamics, specifically referencing the India-U.S. relationship as a “one-sided disaster” due to trade imbalances and tariffs. He also pointed out India’s reliance on Russia for oil and military products.
