Jasdeep Singh Jassie, who heads Sikhs of America and supports Trump through his organization Sikhs for Trump, delivered this sobering verdict as trade talks continue amid bilateral strains.

High-level diplomatic engagements had sparked hopes of imminent trade deals. But Jassie, speaking candidly, revealed deep concerns. ‘This relationship is in grave shape. It’s the lowest I’ve witnessed in nearly 20 years,’ he remarked during a Thursday interview.

In sharp contrast, Jassie lauded Trump’s rapid policy wins. Describing the president’s inaugural year in office as ‘outstanding,’ he claimed Trump outpaced historical predecessors in achievements. ‘He’s achieved in one year what takes others a decade.’

Trump’s immigration crackdown drew particular acclaim. Jassie celebrated the achievement of ‘zero border crossings,’ a stark reversal from the Biden era’s daily 10,000 incursions. ‘He sealed the border as promised.’

Crime reduction efforts also earned applause, with National Guard deployments credited for plummeting statistics in urban centers like Baltimore. Economically, Jassie touted a record 35% trade deficit slash, massive job growth, and falling inflation. ‘Grocery prices are at multi-year lows, and gas costs dropped sharply before Thanksgiving.’

Tariff proceeds are set to deliver tax rebates to low- and middle-income households. Indian-Americans, including naturalized citizens and their families, stand to gain from America’s resurgence, Jassie emphasized.

Despite these domestic triumphs, the Indo-US relationship remains a pain point. Jassie’s comments underscore the challenges ahead, as both nations navigate trade hurdles and geopolitical shifts in Trump’s America.
