Trump dismisses Iran agreement as futile, hints at continued talks

Speaking to reporters in Ankara during the NATO leaders’ meeting, Donald Trump expressed his belief that the memorandum of understanding with Iran no longer holds any value. He criticized Tehran for “wasting time” and claimed the agreement has become ineffective.

Although Trump said he could permit American negotiators to keep the dialogue alive, he implied that Iran’s actions are merely delaying tactics. The statements were made against the backdrop of a recent U.S. Central Command operation targeting IRGC installations.

UAE senior diplomat Anwar Gargash highlighted that Iran’s recent missile attacks on Qatari and Saudi commercial tankers, as well as its repeated provocations against Bahrain and Kuwait, underscore Tehran’s incapacity to ease regional friction or conclude the “war chapter.”

The IRGC, after the United States announced attacks on 80 Iranian sites, claimed to have launched a drone strike on the U.S. base at Sheikh Isa Air Base, warning that any breach of the cease‑fire would make all U.S. military facilities in the Gulf legitimate targets for Iranian drones.
