Trump Closes Midterm Campaign With Iran and Espionage Remarks

Washington, November 2: US President Donald Trump ended his midterm election campaign on Sunday, local time, with remarks covering the war with Iran, the cost of oil and the issue of spying by China and Russia.

Addressing a rally in Dubuque, Iowa, Trump rejected concerns that China and Russia are spying on the United States. "Somebody said China is spying on us. I said, yes, and we are spying on them," he said. "Don't worry about that."

He repeated the point, saying that Beijing and Moscow spy on America, that America does the same to them, and that it does so "much better." He again told his audience not to be worried.

Turning to Iran, Trump said the government in Tehran had no military capability left and no leader to bargain with. "We didn't start it, but we are ending it. We're beating them badly," he said. He claimed Iran had no radar, no anti-aircraft weapons and no leadership, and suggested the United States had gone too far in removing Iranian leaders. He said he was looking for someone to talk to, but that no one wanted to become president.

After more than two hours in Dubuque, Trump flew to Salina, Kansas, for the last rally of his midterm campaign.

In Salina, he returned to the economy and said inflation had dropped to 1.7 percent over the last three months. He said he had inherited high prices from "sleepy" Joe Biden and had not raised them himself.

Trump also said he had stopped Iran from getting nuclear weapons. He added that oil prices were much lower than during the Biden and Obama years.

He described high fuel prices as "a very small price to pay for the security of this country and the world," and said prices would drop quickly once the conflict ended.

Americans will vote on Tuesday, when control of the House of Representatives and the Senate is on the line.
