Trump administration blocks visas for Iran President's aides

According to reports from Tehran, the United States has denied visas to members of President Masoud Pejeshkian’s communications team, preventing them from accompanying the president to the United Nations General Assembly. The decision was announced by IRNA on Monday and labeled as an “unexpected and hostile act” by the current US administration. The restriction follows the February 28 US‑Israel strikes that intensified Middle‑East hostilities. While the wider Iranian delegation, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has been permitted to attend the Assembly, the US State Department has again barred the delegation from purchasing luxury items and imposed other discretionary limits. President Pejeshkian is scheduled to address the UN on Wednesday after departing for New York on Tuesday. The 81st session, themed “Restoring Trust, Managing Change: A United Nations that Works for All,” runs from September 22 to 28 and will be presided over by Bangladesh’s Khalidur Rahman.
