The Information Office also outlined the main thrusts for the upcoming 15th Five‑Year Plan. Building on the achievements of the current plan, officials will focus on extending high‑speed rail services, upgrading existing highways to higher standards, and completing the remaining gaps in rural road coverage.
Planned initiatives include the acceleration of the Lhasa‑Ningchi line’s capacity, the construction of new expressway segments to tighten the “five‑city, three‑hour” network, and enhanced logistics hubs to support trade across the border regions. The government aims to raise road access in villages to above 95 % and to introduce smart traffic management systems along major corridors.
