The twin eruptions of Anak Krakatoa produced an acoustic shock that was heard up to 700 kilometres away, according to the regional disaster agency. The thick ash veil over Jakarta caused a cascade of cancellations and delays, disrupting the itineraries of thousands of people. About 209 scheduled flights—both domestic and international—were either delayed, rerouted, or called off, leaving roughly 22,800 passengers to wait for updated information. Authorities emphasized that, despite the chaos, there were no reported injuries or major property losses, and no imminent tsunami threat was identified.
