Tensions Rise as Another Tanker Attacked Close to Al Khasab

A fresh offensive against a commercial tanker was reported near the southern sector of the Hormuz Strait, roughly 20 nautical miles north‑east of the Omani port of Al Khasab. The ship’s emergency broadcast on VHF Channel 16 indicated that an unidentified projectile had struck the hull.

While the vessel sustained damage, the crew emerged uninjured. This incident mirrors a similar strike on a separate tanker only a few days earlier, which occurred about 12 nautical miles north‑east of Lima, Oman.

The surge in unexplained attacks on merchant traffic has coincided with escalating diplomatic pressure between Washington and Tehran. U.S. President Donald Trump announced that talks with Iran are slated to commence Monday afternoon, even as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar have asked the United States to reconsider a planned strike in the region.

Maritime authorities continue to monitor the area closely, urging ships to remain on high alert.
