Tamil Nadu Residents Among 15 Indians Killed Near Phu Quoc Island

A maritime disaster off the coast of Phu Quoc Island claimed the lives of 15 Indian tourists on Saturday afternoon. Among the dead were ten residents of Tamil Nadu, making the state the most affected. The victims also included three travelers from Andhra Pradesh and two from Kerala. The Indian embassy conveyed its condolences and set up control rooms in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to coordinate relief efforts. Local media reported that the speedboat, operated by Ocean Pearl Island Company, suffered a sudden technical failure around 1 p.m., leading to the overturning. Authorities are now probing the exact cause while providing medical care to the 21 survivors.
